Terms & conditions

Terms and conditions for using the ASOSH website, enrolling on courses, certification, membership and accredited training centres.

Last updated November 2026 2 min read Print

These terms apply to everyone who uses the ASOSH website and services. By using the site, enrolling on a course or applying to ASOSH, you agree to them.

About these terms

“ASOSH”, “we” and “us” mean the American Society for Occupational Safety and Health. “You” means the visitor, learner, member, centre or organisation using our services. Specific agreements — such as a training centre agreement — take priority over these general terms where they differ.

Using the website

  • You may use the website for lawful purposes only and must not attempt to disrupt it or access areas you are not authorised to use.
  • Information on the website is provided in good faith for general guidance. It does not replace a site-specific risk assessment or professional advice.
  • We may update or withdraw content, courses or services at any time.

Courses and enrolment

  • Course content, duration and entry requirements are described on each course page and may be updated to reflect good practice.
  • Learners must attend the full course and take part in practical activities safely, following the trainer’s instructions.
  • Dates, fees, cancellations and refunds for a specific class are confirmed by ASOSH or the accredited centre delivering it.

Assessment and certificates

  • Certificates are issued only to learners who complete the course and pass the required assessment.
  • Each certificate carries a unique serial number and QR code and can be verified online. Certificates remain the property of ASOSH.
  • Altering, copying or misrepresenting a certificate is prohibited. We may withdraw any certificate obtained through fraud or malpractice and record it as invalid in the verification system.
  • Some certificates have a validity period, after which refresher training is required.

Membership

  • Membership grades are awarded by the evaluation committee based on the evidence provided. The committee’s decision is final, although you may reapply with new evidence.
  • Members must give accurate information, keep their details up to date and act professionally and ethically.
  • Membership may be suspended or withdrawn for misconduct, false information or non-payment of fees.

Accredited training centres

Centres operate under a separate centre agreement and must deliver courses only through approved trainers, follow approved course outlines, keep accurate records and accept audits. Accreditation may be suspended or withdrawn if these conditions are not met.

Intellectual property

The ASOSH name, seal, course materials, website content and design belong to ASOSH. They may not be copied, adapted or used commercially without written permission. Accredited centres receive a limited licence to use materials for approved courses only.

Liability

We take care to keep our information and courses accurate and up to date, but we cannot accept liability for losses arising from the use of general information on this website. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Privacy

We handle personal data as described in our privacy policy and cookies policy.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms from time to time; the version on this page applies. Questions about these terms can be sent to [email protected].
